about this trail

Mountain to Meadow Trail

Mountain to Meadow (M2M) is a 4-mile one-way, moderate singletrack trail descending from Big Sky Resort to Meadow Village and Town Center. Designed as a signature flow trail, M2M offers smooth climbing access options and a fast, banked-turn descent through forested hillside terrain.

The trail begins near the base of the Ramcharger Chairlift at Big Sky Resort. Riders can either pedal up via the M2M Climb/Upper South Fork access trail or utilize lift access when Ramcharger is operating. From the top, the trail rolls across ski terrain before exiting the resort boundary and beginning its flowing descent through spruce forest, featuring bermed turns and several tight switchbacks.

Mountain to Meadow is primarily used for downhill mountain biking, though it remains a multi-use trail. Users should expect moderate to heavy downhill traffic when lift access is open. Uphill riders and downhill riders currently share portions of the trail, so awareness and courtesy are essential.

The trail finishes near Meadow Village and connects via neighborhood roads and the Nordic trail system to Big Sky Town Center.

More Trail Details

From the resort base, riders follow signage to Upper South Fork Trail, climbing gently under the Ramcharger lift before turning onto the machine-built M2M route. After crossing the Bighorn ski run and exiting ski area boundaries, the trail transitions into a flowing descent through forested terrain.

Expect:

  • Banked turns
  • Fast, rolling sections
  • Several sharp switchbacks (control speed to prevent erosion)
  • Moderate to heavy traffic during lift season

The final segment follows Autumn Trail Road and Andesite Road through Meadow Village, reconnecting to Town Center and local trail networks.

Mountain to Meadow represents Big Sky’s continued expansion of bike-accessible recreation and connectivity between the resort and community core.
