Little Willow Way
Little Willow Way is a 1.6-mile round-trip trail located within Big Sky Community Park, offering an easy and accessible path along the West Fork of the Gallatin River. Often referred to as Big Sky’s premier river walk, this flat, gravel-surfaced trail is ideal for walkers, runners, cyclists, families, and dogs.
The trail winds gently alongside the river, providing excellent views of Lone Mountain and frequent wildlife sightings — including moose, especially during early mornings and evenings. River access points along the route offer opportunities to fish, wade, or simply pause and enjoy the sound of moving water.
Wildflowers such as Indian paintbrush, wild rose, and lupine line the path during peak summer months, creating a colorful and sensory-rich experience. Benches and picnic tables throughout the park make it easy to extend your visit.
For those looking to add elevation and distance, Little Willow Way connects directly to Black Diamond Trail, adding an additional 0.8 miles of moderate terrain through forested hills.
