JOB DETAILS

Education, Experience, Preferred Skills & Background

  • Experience working with youth in camps, schools, recreation programs, or similar environments preferred
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to lead activities and engage children in a positive and encouraging manner
  • Interest in outdoor recreation, education, or youth development
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification, or willingness to obtain certification
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Physical Requirements

    • Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions
    • Ability to lift and carry 25+ pounds
    • Physical stamina to supervise campers and remain active throughout the day
    • Ability to assist campers in emergency situations including evacuation, illness, or injury
    • Ability to respond appropriately to basic first aid situations

    Work occurs in a primarily outdoor environment, including trails, parks, and field trip locations. Camp spaces include shade structures, yurts, and other outdoor facilities.

    Responsibilities & Functions

    Camper Supervision & Support

    • Supervise a group of campers and ensure their safety at all times
    • Build meaningful relationships with campers, parents, and fellow staff members
    • Be attentive and responsive to camper needs and wellbeing

    Program Facilitation

    • Set up, facilitate, and participate in group activities in a safe, engaging, and educational manner
    • Encourage camper participation, teamwork, and personal growth
    • Support educational outdoor programming and recreational activities

    Behavior Management

    • Manage camper behavior in a positive and constructive way
    • Seek support from Camp Coordinators or the Youth Programs Manager when necessary

    Camp Operations

    • Help prepare, clean, and maintain camp yurts and program spaces each day
    • Assist with general camp setup and cleanup to ensure spaces are safe and organized
    • Communicate regularly with Camp Coordinators and the Youth Programs Manager throughout the day

    Essential Functions

    • Supervise campers in outdoor and group settings while maintaining a safe environment
    • Engage campers in structured activities, outdoor exploration, and camp programming
    • Communicate effectively with campers, staff, and parents or caregivers
    • Respond appropriately to camper needs and dynamic camp situations
    • Maintain awareness of camper safety and wellbeing throughout the day

    Mon-Fr, 36-40 hrs/week, June 2nd - August 26th
