The Camp Coordinator plays a key role in creating a safe, organized, and engaging experience at **Camp Big Sky**. This position supports daily camp operations, mentors counselors and junior counselors, and helps ensure every camper feels included, supported, and excited to learn, explore, and grow throughout the summer.

Set the tone for an unforgettable summer at Camp Big Sky. Camp Coordinators lead the daily camp experience by supervising, engaging, and empowering up to 60 campers while providing mentorship and support to counselors and junior counselors.

This role supports the successful delivery of camp programs by organizing activity materials, facilitating daily activities, managing camper behavior, and maintaining clear communication with staff and parents. Above all, Camp Coordinators help foster a safe, inclusive environment where campers and staff feel supported, confident, and excited to learn and grow throughout the summer.

Education, Experience, Preferred Skills & Background

1. CPR, First Aid, and AED certification or willingness to obtain certifications.
2. Ability to pass background check.

Physical Requirements

Outdoor and mixed environment: most of our programming occurs outside; campus has shade structures and yurts; field trips to various trails, parks, etc. • Physical Demands: Lifting 25lb+, ability to work in variable weather conditions, physical strength and endurance to maintain constant supervision of campers and to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury), and to respond to first aid situations

Responsibilities & Functions

Camp Coordinators help ensure Camp Big Sky runs smoothly each day while creating a positive, engaging experience for campers and staff.

Camp Leadership & Culture

  • Build and maintain meaningful connections with campers, staff, and parents or caregivers.
  • Provide mentorship, training, and ongoing feedback to counselors and junior counselors.
  • Help cultivate a camp culture that is inclusive, supportive, and encourages growth for both campers and staff.
  • Model positive leadership and effective behavior management techniques.

Program Implementation

  • Assist the Youth Programs Manager with implementing camp activities and schedules.
  • Organize activity materials and prepare clear instructions for daily programs.
  • Lead educational outdoor programming and model effective group facilitation.

Camper Support & Communication

  • Communicate regularly with the Youth Programs Manager regarding camper needs or concerns.
  • Engage with youth and staff from a variety of backgrounds in a respectful and supportive manner.
  • Respond appropriately during dynamic camp environments, including group facilitation and emergency situations.

Daily Operations

  • Ensure camp spaces are properly set up and maintained to a high standard each day.
  • Assist with preparation and distribution of morning and afternoon snacks.
  • Help maintain clean, organized camp spaces and activity areas.
